Intellectual Property Management PDF Print E-mail

Intellectual Property (IP) is simply property that arises from the intellect – ideas translated into concrete products or services. Like any other property it can be bought, sold, and rented (licensed) for use.

In EC-funded projects a wide range of types of IP may arise including new technologies, new products, new software and new databases. Each of these types has associated rights (IPR) which belong to the individual partners of the consortium or to more than one of them following joint inventions.

At EurExcel we have experts in Intellectual Property management that can guide you through the IP maze and bring you to a clear understanding of all the IP issues that can arise leading up to and following the start of an EC-funded project. We can help in:

  • identifying the background IP brought to the project by the partners;
  • suggesting the likely foreground IP that will be developed in the project by the partners and how it should be protected;
  • the drafting of Consortium Agreements that detail how both background and foreground IP will be handled by the partners both during and following the project;
  • creating strategies for the exploitation of the foreground IP post-project.
